Can gas cylinders be hidden from plain sight?

Yes, they absolutely can. Should you wish to blend your gas cylinders to the style of your home you could create a cover such as shown in this post. Just ensure that there's still enough room to change them when making a delivery and there is adequate ventilation around the cylinder at all times.
